OUR STORY
INDI Kids makes handmade furniture for children inspired by Montessori pedagogy. Our slogan is support the child's independence with a safe environment. We believe the prepared environment gives to the child the opportunity to discover and learn for himself.
We are Liina-Mai and Gea from Estonia, the co-founders of INDI Kids. We got acquainted thanks to our children who go to kindergarten and school together. We have 6 children in total - Gea has two small sons and one daughter and Liina-Mai is the mother of three daughters.
We have both graduated from the university with a degree in business administration, and so far our daily work has been accounting. Liina-Mai has worked as an accountant and engaged in business in very different fields for over 20 years and has always been interested in design and interior design. Gea has been involved in accounting and quality control for over 15 years in both the furniture industry and liquid fuels.
INDI Kids was founded when we wanted to find suitable toddler furniture to support our children's independence. As it was difficult to find products you like in the store, the idea arose to create our own small furniture studio.
Our goal was to create easily accessible furniture items for the child, by which he or she develops both independence and creativity - and thus the INDI Kids Montessori pedagogy-inspired product line was born. The principles of Montessori pedagogy are becoming increasingly popular as parents recognize the limitations of traditional education. From the point of view of a child's development, everything is based on the prepared home environment, where he or she learns the skills necessary for life, empathy, creativity and to get interested in everything around him. A child can develop and experience independently if a prepared environment is created for it - furniture suitable for a small child, special activities and toys designed to support children's development and independent thinking.
Our mission is to create high-quality child-friendly products for young children that would fit into the home interior and also provide eye-pleasing pleasure for adults and design-conscious families.
We are the designers of INDI Kids and the main manufacturers of furniture. The biggest motivator in the design and production of furniture is the real realization of ideas in the form of finished furniture, which is also used immediately at home. All INDI Kids products are handmade in Estonia and only natural materials have been used in production.
